It started out like any other Saturday. We decided to go to the mall, and while we were there, Chris suggested stopping at the Cheesecake Factory for a Pumpkin Cheesecake. Afterwards we returned and after dinner, Yeli was flipping through the channels on tv while Chris went to get the cheesecake for dessert. Not suspecting a thing, Chris had gotten down on one knee and cleared his throat to get Yeli to turn and look, since she hadn’t even noticed! He was holding a slice of cheesecake with a little note saying, “Will you marry me?” and a ring attached.
Unexpectedly, instead of saying, “Yes!” or crying, Yeli started to laugh (it was a good laughter) because it was so surprising and she was so caught off guard that she didn’t know how to react. For a few seconds Chris started to worry that she might say no, but she eventually calmed down enough to say yes. Then they enjoyed their cheesecake and proceeded to let their family know what had just happened. Thankfully, everyone was happy and excited!
It was a quiet, silly, and cute proposal, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! We’re both homebodies and enjoy spending time indoors, and it was the perfect way to end the day.
